Our Westminster College Heritage
Celebrating 175 years of Westminster College Life
Take a training college for teachers with a modest number of students entering each year for 110 years.
Follow its move to Oxford where the College grows to admit up to 140 students each year on its initial teacher training courses and BEd, with up to 100 more on the post-graduate course.
They qualify. The vast majority go out into the world as teachers. With PE, Art, and Music teachers seeing maybe half of a school's pupils each year, perhaps all of them, and with the rest seeing a fair number. Multiply that big ficgure by the number of years through which they taught . . .
So how many lives were influenced by the men and women of Westminster College? Not just hundreds, more like tens of thousands, maybe even hundreds of thousands.
Each of these individual teachers, helped shaped a pupil's life, the life of a school, and even the life of a community.
That is the legacy this book celebrates.
Our Westminster College Heritage is the product of two years research by our team of volunteers, led by Heritage Editor and Society Chair Peter Relf. In it you will read stories about the lives of Westminsterians across the decades from the 1850s onwards.
Copoies of this on sale at £25 per copy, UK postage included. For posting to Irish Republic and all other countries please add £3.
